Skill-shares: Sharing experience, building community
Our skill-shares will offer a wide range of topics based on the needs and interests of our participants. We will start with these categories:

  • Preservation Sessions – We will explore preserving food through canning, dehydrating, and fermenting. Participants will be able to bring in their own harvest to preserve, or participate in group preservation sessions where the kitchen purchases a large quantity of produce mostly from local farms and participants will take home a share of the finished product.
  • Nutrient-dense, Traditional Foods and Staples – Sharing skills in making cheeses, yogurt, kefir, kombucha, healing broths, healthful salad dressings and marinades, among many others, are vital in reclaiming health. Most of these items are very expensive purchased retail, but are actually quite inexpensive to make and are more medicinal when homemade.
  • DIY Herbal Health, Home & Personal Care Remedies – Herbs are economical, especially when purchased in bulk, and even cheaper when home-grown. Herbs can be grown successfully indoors as well and contain many nutrients, an excellent addition to one’s diet and regime through cooking, teas, salves, tinctures and more. We will begin planning our own medicinal herb garden to further offset cost by growing ourselves.
